A custom infinity mirror electric guitar designed in CAD and manufactured using a CNC router, a laser cutter, and a 3d printer. The guitar is built with a $500 grant by the MIT ProjX and displayed at the ProjXpo in Spring 2023. "Abyss" reflects the endless visual effect of the infinity mirror, capturing the deep, resonant tones and perpetual depth while "Vivace" symbolizes the guitar's lively and quick response, signifying its bright, vibrant sound that shines through the infinite illusion. The guitar is hollow, light-weight, and features a tone knob and volume knob (with push-pull switch for coil tapping).
With a humbucker pickup, coil tapping is a feature that allows you to change the sound by reducing the number of active coils, so that you can "tap" into one of the coils, effectively bypassing the other coil.
Future work will focus on programming the guitar lights to change in sync with the chords played.
